Requirements
To apply for a TWIN Certificate, a student must demonstrate the following requirements:
- Enrollment in a TWIN degree programme
- Evidence of linguistic competences in German and English as per level C1
- Evidence of intercultural competences
- Minimum amount of ECTS in German and in English
1. Enrollment in a TWIN degree programme
Students have to be enrolled either in the degree programme Bachelor Betriebswirtschaft (BBW) or in the degree programme Bachelor International Management (BIM). To get the TWIN certificate, they have to participate in courses of the equivalent degree programme. Students may start their studies in a TWIN degree programme even at a higher level of semester.
Before the TWIN certificate gets issued, the applying student must be graduated in one of the faculty’s TWIN degree programmes.
2. Evidence of linguistic competences in German and English as per level C1
Students need to demonstrate their language abilities in German and English according to level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. For proof of ability, students may choose between various options:
German C1:
- University entrance qualification on grounds of an educational attainment with German as language of instruction
- Results of TOEFL or IELTS tests varifying linguistic competences according to level C1 GER
- Successful passed courses or modules of FHWS varifying linguistic competences according to level C1 GER
English C1:
- University entrance qualification on grounds of an educational attainment with English as language of instruction
- Results of TOEFL or IELTS tests varifying linguistic competences according to level C1 GER
- Successful passed courses or modules of FHWS varifying linguistic competences according to level C1 GER
3. Evidence of intercultural competences
The adoption of intercultural competences may take place by dealing with intercultural-driven issues and assignments or by working within a cross-cultural project team.
Within the actual curriculum of the semester, the Faculty Council of FWiWi determines the modules suitable to provide appropriate intercultural competences:
- Modules of 1st to 4th semester in BBW
- Modules of 1st to 4th semester in BIM
- Fachwissenschaftliche Wahlpflichtfächer in BBW
- Business Electives in BIM
- Completion of a semester abroad
- Completion of an internship abroad
To proof their intercultural competences, students need to perform modules with a minimum amount of 10 ECTS at least.
An overview of actually recognized module can be found in the Module-List.
4. Minimum amount of ECTS in German and in English
To provide evidence for successful completion of modules in the corresponding language of the TWIN degree module, students need to provide a minimum level of examination:
- 40 ECTS for students starting in a TWIN degree programme before 01.10.2016
- 60 ECTS for students starting in a TWIN degree programme after 01.10.2016
Students within a TWIN degree programme can take exams in the other language of the corresponding module starting from 1st semester. By registering for a specific examination, the student decides to participate whether in the German language format or in the English language format. The language of choice taken for the first time passing the exam does not commit the student for the same language in any further attempts of examination (retakes or improvement of grade).
The internship will be assigned to one of both TWIN languages by the language of the written internship report. It doesn’t depend on the location of the internship or the language that is commonly used there.
Students can also perform courses and examined assignments in the other language beyond the corresponding TWIN degree programme, as far as these efforts can be credited against the compulsory modules of the respective TWIN degree programme.
The following overview provides the options for attaining the required ECTS in the other language of the TWIN degree programmes:
